Aspen Smile Dentistry strives to ensure that its services are accessible to people with disabilities, in the belief that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort and independence.

This statement describes the measures this website takes, where it currently falls short, and how to reach us if something is not working for you.

What this site does

Accessibility here is built into the site itself rather than added by an overlay or a third-party widget. The following are in place across the site:

  • A “skip to content” link so keyboard users can bypass the header and navigation.
  • Every image carries alternative text.
  • Menus, including their sub-menus, open on keyboard focus as well as on hover, so the whole navigation can be reached without a mouse.
  • A visible focus outline on every link, button and form field.
  • Every form field has a real label, errors are announced to screen readers, and the field in error is marked as such.
  • Animation is disabled for visitors whose system is set to reduce motion.
  • Text is served as real text, at a size that can be enlarged by the browser, in a single declared language.
  • Touch targets in the floating contact widget are at least 44 pixels, and its inputs are sized so mobile browsers do not zoom on focus.

Where it currently falls short

No formal WCAG conformance audit has been carried out on this site, so no conformance level is claimed here.

Two shortfalls are known and recorded. Some colour pairings inherited from the practice's brand palette do not meet the WCAG AA contrast minimum, most visibly the labels on the service tiles. And three service pages carry two top-level headings, an authoring quirk preserved from the previous site that makes their heading structure less clear than it should be.

Both are recorded in the project's own documentation and are intended to be addressed rather than left indefinitely.

Reporting a problem

If you have difficulty with any part of this site, or need information from it in another format, please contact us and we will help directly and provide what you need by another route.

Telephone (970) 925-6565 during normal business hours, or email info@aspensmiledentistry.com. You can also use the contact form.

We treat accessibility problems as faults to be fixed, and we would rather hear about one than not.
